The Library Wall
The first initiative of Recover Acadiana took place in the heart of Downtown Lafayette. Having already been up for over a year, and with at least another year to go, the fence around the construction taking place at the Main Library downtown wasn’t the prettiest thing to see when driving along Congress.
We (the705) figured things could be better, even if temporarily! So… in partnership with Downtown Lafayette, the Lafayette Public Library System, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s School of Architecture and Design, The Library Wall project was launched.
80+ design students were tasked with creating their own works of art to be displayed along the fence (as part of their coursework) and were also competing for some scholarship prizes. The results speak for themselves!
